FANTACY  RESORTS

As you might have noticed we have several links listed on the left side of the paper. One of them is Fantasy Resorts. If you have not checked it, we invite you to do so. You will discover a wonderful world of luxurious resorts and casinos spread all over the United States and overseas. In actuality, there are only four names. Isle of Capri, MGM Grand, Park Place and Mandalay. However, these four firms offer a grand total of 62 resort hotels and casinos. Some of them ranked 5-Stars and 5-Diamonds, some of them on river boats and some of them on land, on majestic architectural landmarks like the Paris in Las Vegas, Nevada. You will need a good three hours or more to visit each resort, depending on the speed of your computer.

Let us start you with the Isle of Capri. It owns 13 resorts and gaming places in 7 states. Five of them are in Mississippi. In Biloxi, Lula, Natchez, Tunica and Vicksburg. The one in Biloxi is a Crowne Plaza Resort Hotel and Casino. It displays permanently one of the tallest Mardi Gras trees in its lobby. Then come two more hotel and casinos in Louisiana. Bossier City and Rhythm City. And then one each in Bettendorf, Iowa; Black Hawk, Colorado; Kansas City, Missouri; Las Vegas, Nevada and Pompano Beach, Florida. The last one being a horse racing track.

Park Place Entertainement offers the most and the biggest. Some of them exceptionally luxurious. Among the five Ceasars, the one in Las Vegas, Nevada is the largest, most luxurious, offers over 4,000 rooms and suites with the largest shopping mall and it is spread over the largest acreage of land. It is a city in itself. The rest of the Ceasars are located in Laughlin, Nevada; Atlantic City, New Jersey; Indiana and South Africa. In addition to the five Ceasars, Park Place offers three Flamingo Hotels, all in Nevada; three Hiltons in Nevada and New Jersey; three Conrad Hiltons in Australia and Uruguay; four Bally's in Nevada, New Jersey, Mississippi and Louisiana and three Grand Casinos all in Mississippi.

The most recent addition has been the Paris in Las Vegas, Nevada. An extraordinary complex with its Eiffel Tower, Arc of Triumph, the Louvre, Le Boulevard and lots of small cafes, pastry shops and boulangeries. When you sit in one of these outdoor cafes, you are bound to see an accordionist passing by and singing songs from Edith Piaf or a mime popping up, displaying mimicry in silent motions. The atmosphere is genuine French. The hotel offers 2,916 spacious rooms tastefully decorated with a great number of European-style boutiques spread over the Boulevard. There are ten restaurants offering a variety of cuisines, including one on top of the Eiffel Tower with a magnificient view of the strip. Paris is a must see.

Next week we will cover the remaining two. The MGM Grand along with the Mandalay Resorts. Incidentally, you will find another sign on the golf course under the name Casino Connections. This a service company headed by Jeff Tindle and his highly competent staff. They can arrange for your reservations in any one of the properties owned by Park Place Entertainement and they fly you with Delta Airlines to any destination, so you can earn Frequent Flier miles. The entire service is free of charge. Alice and I have tried it on more than one occasion and we have nothing but the highest praise for their impeccable service.

In addition to the above resorts they also represent Harrah's in Las Vegas, Laughlin and Lake Tahoe, Nevada and Harrah's in Atlantic City, New Jersey. They also represent the fabulous new Atlantis Resort in Nassau, Bahamas. The Atlantis is an oceanic splendor of marine life. It has more than 10,000 marine species, ranging from huge sharks to the smallest colorful tropical fish, floating all over the hotel. The marine decor portrays the lost civilization of Atlantis, thus the name of the resort. .
