School is over.
Now What?

Now that school is over, you have plenty of time in your hands which you can use creatively.
If you are interested in earning some money, you may look for a job which suits your personality and at the same time will pay you for your efforts and time.
If money is not the motivating force, you may wish to volunteer your time in a hospital, clinic, library or summer school program.
So, be decisive. Decide what you want to do, and go for it.
There are an array of jobs available during the summer months. There are several employers who look for seasonal help. Places like amusement parks, retail stores, restaurants, hotels and resorts, and many more.
Arm yourself with the right attitude and apply.
Remember, you may have to go through a number of interviews before you are hired. Each interview will be as important as the previous one. Be enthusiastic, presentable and show willingness to work.

Here are some links that can help you have a meaningful summer.

FORTHCOMING   FULTON   COUNTY   PUBLIC  HEARINGS

The Midtown Neighbors' Association issued an update to its members recently, informing them that the Fulton County Board of Commissioners will be sponsoring three public hearings to receive taxpayers' input regarding the County's 2001 property tax millage rate. The hearings will be held in the Assembly Hall of the Fulton County Government Center, 141 Pryor Street, SW, on the following dates:
    Wednesday, June 6, 2001 @ 10:00 a.m. and 6.00 p.m.
    Wednesday, June 20, 2001 @ 10:00 a.m.
It is imperative for all Fulton County property owners to make an effort to attend at least to one of these meetings and participate in the input. According to the announcement, the proposed 2001 millage rates are less than the previous year in the following funds:
13.04 mills for the General Fund, a reduction of .27 mills.
0.30 mills for the Bond Fund, a reduction of .08 mills.
4.70 mills for the Special Services District Fund (unincorporated Fulton County), a reduction of .06 mills.
Please do not be misled by these miniscule reductions. 2% on the General Fund, 2.6% on the Bond Fund and 1.3% on the Special Services District Fund. Although they are reductions and they are certainly welcomed, mind you when they are applied to the substantially high property evaluations placed by the Board recently, they will generate substantially higher taxes than the year before. In one of our recent MNA meetings, mayoral candidate Robb Pitts stated that a 15% to 20% increase is an acceptable upgrade in property appraisals. Anything over that, should be appealed. Some members stated that they have received as high as 100% increases.

In closing, we would like to thank the Midtown Neighbors' Association for their timely update.
