THE MAGIC OF A BRAND NEW DAY
|
The eagle picture was sent to us by one of our readers with no words. He said it is self-explanatory.
Initially, we had our reservations of putting it on the Gazette because we felt that it was too revengful. However, while vacationing in Daytona Beach, FL we walked early in the morning on the beach witnessing the sunrise. It was a majestic view. A lady who was walking along, stopped by, focusing on the first sun rays illuminating the sky. As we were captured by the magic of the dawn of a new day, we said: "Isn't it beautiful?".
She responded: "Yes, indeed. Can you imagine how many thousands of people will not have a chance to see this magic again?".
Right there and then we changed our minds and elected to put the picture on, because to us it represented justice instead of revenge.

AMERICA'S FIRST STRIKE AGAINST THE TERRORISTS
Did it happen? Yes! When? On September 11, 2001 @ 10:35 AM when
the passengers of United Airlines flight 93 struck back, overwhelming
the terrorists and forcing the hijackers to crash the plane in the
fields of Pennsylvania. This was the greatest heroic act on the first
day of the attack, preventing the terrorists from reaching their target
which many officials believe was the White House or Camp David. These
are our first heroes, of the first war, in the new millenium. When we
decide to build a memorial, their names should be among the very first
ones to be inscribed on.
I am surprised our media has missed the greatest story "Our First Strike
In The New War." True, all the networks reported the crashing of the
plane and some cell-phone conversations of some passengers with their
loved ones, but it was reported in such a nonchallant manner that they
missed the true essence of heroism. If we have a White House standing
intact today, or a Camp David, we owe it to the heroes of United flight
93. The media is still struggling to find out when the first strike will
take place, in what fashion and where? It has already taken place and we
already had our first heroes who sacrificed their lives while striking
back. Our first lady flew over to Philadelphia to pay homage to our
fallen heroes and their respective families. It is time for our media
to wake up and do the same. It is not too late.
As to the muslims living in the United States, especially those who are
American citizens, although we are very thoughtful and concerned about their
security like any other American citizen, what they need to realize is that
their loyalty first and foremost is to the United States of America and not to
their formerland. If they are aware of any pending terrorist act, or any
terrorist, or any person terrorist-connected, or any person acting as an
informant to terrorists or to hostile countries against the United States, they
ought to report that person to the FBI. They owe it to their country if they are
true Americans.
We, Americans, have no problem living with Muslims, or with people of other
faiths. It seems to me that the problem is the other way around.
Religion has never been an issue for someone to be recognized as a
sound citizen and a patriotic American. Let me illustrate my point by
taking you back to the opening ceremonies of the 1996 Olympic Games held
in Atlanta, Georgia. We handed the torch to Mohammed Ali, an American of
Muslim faith, to represent the United States and the entire international
community. Can you name one Christian nation that handed top honors to
a Muslim to represent it? Incidentally, Mohammed Ali was on TV yesterday
commenting on the tragedy. His closing remarks were: "Islam stands for
peace. Unfortunately, we have fanatics among us".
We are a loving and caring nation. Surely it will be ideal if the rest
of the world joins in. However, those who elect not to, especially those
who elect to hurt us, be prepared to face the consequences. There is
neither love nor care when we decide to strike back.
